Your data (habeas data)

Version 0.1 · updated October 13, 2026

The Constitution of Honduras (Article 182) recognizes habeas data: the right to know what data about you is kept, to have it corrected and to have it protected. This page explains how to exercise it in Bento.

1. What you can ask for

  • Access: a copy of your data and of who has viewed it.
  • Correction: to have wrong or incomplete data corrected. In a clinical record, the correction is added as a note; the original entry is not erased.
  • Deletion: to have data erased once it is no longer needed, except what the law or clinical practice requires to be kept.
  • Objection: to stop receiving reminders or messages. You can turn them off at any time.

2. How to ask

  1. From the patient portal: under "Profile", choose "Request my data" or "Request a correction".
  2. Directly at the practice: the practice is responsible for your record and can handle the request in person.
  3. Portal account: to close it, ask for it as a data request. Your records stay with each practice.

3. Timing

Our goal is for the practice to answer within 10 business days. We will tell you if it needs more time and why.

4. Minors

A minor's data is managed by their mother, father or guardian, linked to them at the practice.

5. If you are not satisfied

If your request was not handled, you can write to the practice and keep a copy. You can also turn to the authorities the law provides.
